The poplar seat has been cut to shape and holes bored at the correct angles, requiring only final shaping and sanding. The oak bows have been steambent to shape. It's a great project for learning how to build a chair. Tools needed to complete the project include an orbital sander, hammer, drill and a few chisels.\n  \u003c\/p\u003e\n  \u003cp\u003e\n   The Bowback Side Chair was first introduced in Philadelphia in the 1780s during the Federal Period, and was the first style to be mass produced for families, often built in sets of 12 or 24 or more. These chairs have endured as a simple country chair from the past.
