The body of the vise can be rotated horizontally, and will pivot from horizontal to vertical when you release a lock on the base.  It even has a saw kerf space where the jaws meet (filled with a replaceable wooden liner) to allow trimming miters with a saw while workpieces are clamped in place. The vise has 4\" jaw openings.
